CALL TO ACTION!! Help support advocacy in Ohio! We need you!

The Governmental Affairs Coalition (GAC) was established in 1981 and continues to be the leading voice for audiology in Ohio.  GAC is a group of audiology and speech pathology professionals in Ohio who work diligently to ensure positive outcomes for our peers and the clients we serve.  We have been fortunate to partner with our lobbying firm, Governmental Policy Group, Inc. (GPG) for more than 20 years.  The relationship they have built with our state legislators is critical in our advocacy efforts.  And while it is not always directly visible to our members, we are working for you all year!  In 2022 we provided a great deal of proponent testimony on bills that would support hearing health care, we provided opponent testimony on bills that would negatively impact our profession and worked on special taskforces to prepare white papers and schedule meetings with Medicaid to advocate for increased reimbursement.  We also worked to get the interstate compact passed quickly to benefit professionals following your input!  Lastly, we are always monitoring bills that are introduced that may encroach on our scope of practice and work to stop them before they gain traction.   Did you know - almost 50% of OAA individual membership dues for the Ohio Academy of Audiology go directly to the critical effort of funding our voice at the legislative level.  This year, some of our partner member organizations that make up GAC have experienced significant decreases in membership numbers, likely due to consequences from the pandemic.  This has placed unexpected financial strain on our ability to fund lobbying services in 2023 and we are at risk of losing our contract.  The Ohio Academy of Audiology has been able to offer additional financial support to GAC and is doing everything we can to maintain this critical coalition and the services of GPG.  This is where you come in...We are asking for your help in keeping this critical service in place!  Please consider donating TODAY in support of the advocacy efforts of ALL audiologists and speech pathologists in the state of Ohio.  Your donation will go directly to GAC dues and will be utilized specifically for advocacy purposes.
